The J. M. Smucker Company is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of branded food products on a worldwide basis. Majority of the Company�s sales are in the United States. The Company�s operations outside the United States are principally in Canada although products are exported to other countries, as well. Sales outside the United States represented approximately 10 % of total consolidated Company sales during the fiscal year ended April 30, 2011 (fiscal 2011). Its branded food products include a portfolio of brands that are sold to consumers through retail outlets in North America. The Company has four segments: U.S. Retail Coffee Market, U.S. Retail Consumer Market, U.S. Retail Oils and Baking Market, and Special Markets. Its principal products are coffee, peanut butter, shortening and oils, fruit spreads, canned milk and baking mixes. In January 2012, The J.M. Smucker Company acquired the North American foodservice coffee and hot beverage business of Sara Lee Corporation.
