China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation is an energy and chemical company. The Company is engaged in oil and gas, and chemical operations in the People's Republic of China (the PRC). The Company's segments include exploration and production segment, refining segment, marketing and distribution segment, chemicals segment, and corporate and others. Its exploration and production segment explores and develops oil fields, and produces crude oil and natural gas. Its refining segment processes and purifies crude oil, which is sourced from the Company's exploration and production segment and external suppliers. Its marketing and distribution segment owns and operates oil depots and service stations in the PRC. Its chemical segment manufactures and sells petrochemical products, derivative petrochemical products and other chemical products to external customers. Corporate and others consist of the trading activities of the import and export companies of the Company's subsidiaries.
