TransAlta Corporation (TransAlta), is engaged in the production and sale of electric energy. TransAlta is organized into three business segments: Generation, Energy Trading and Corporate. The Generation group segment is engaged in constructing, operating and maintaining its electricity generation facilities. The Energy Trading segment is responsible for the wholesale trading of electricity and other energy-related commodities and derivatives. The Corporate segment provides finance, tax, treasury, legal, regulatory, environmental, health and safety, sustainable development, corporate communications, government and investor relations, procurement, information technology, risk management, human resources, internal audit, and other administrative services, including compliance and governance services. During the year ended December 31, 2011, the Company decommissioned its Taylor wind facility, a 3 MW facility located in Pincher Creek, Alberta.
