American Spectrum Realty, Inc. (ASR) provides real estate services. It provides integrated real estate solutions for its own property portfolio (properties in which the Company owns a controlling interest or in properties where the Company is the primary beneficiary of a variable interest entity (VIE)) and the portfolios of its third party clients. The Company owns and manages commercial, industrial, retail, self-storage and multi-family, student housing income properties, and offers its third party clients integrated real estate solutions, including management and transaction services. The Company conducts its business in the continental United States. ASR's business is conducted through an Operating Partnership in which the Company is the sole general partner and a limited partner with a total equity interest of 73%, as of December 31, 2011. In April 2012, it sold three buildings. In October 2012, it acquired two self-storage properties in Tampa and Ocala, Florida.
