Mines Management, Inc. (MMI) is engaged in the business of acquiring and exploring, and developing mineral properties, primarily those containing silver and associated base and precious metals. The Company acquires, explores, and develops mineral properties in North America. The Company's principal mineral property interest, the Montanore Project, is held by its wholly owned subsidiaries, Newhi, Inc. and Montanore Minerals Corp. As of December 31, 2011, the Company's properties, including the Montanore property, are in the exploration stage; none of its properties are in production. The Montanore property is located in north western Montana and covering 355 acres plus one 5-acre patented mill site. Although the Company does not own the overlying surface rights to its patented mineral rights, it does have right of access to explore and mine. The Iroquois property consists of 62 acres of patented mineral and surface rights and 15 unpatented mining claims containing 300 acres.
