Grupo Simec SAB de CV (Simec) is a Mexico-based holding company primarily engaged, together with its subsidiaries, in the steel industry. The Company�s activities include the manufacture, processing and distribution of special bar quality (SBQ) steel and structural steel products. Its SBQ products are used across a range of engineered end-user applications, such as axles, hubs and crankshafts for automobiles and light trucks, machine tools and off-highway equipment. Its structural steel products are mainly used in the non-residential construction market and other construction applications. As of December 31, 2011, the Company owned such subsidiaries as Procesadora Mexicali SA de CV, Servicios Simec SA de CV, Pacific Steel Inc, Undershaft Investments NV and Operadora de Servicios de la Industria Siderurgica ICH SA de CV, among others. In addition, Industrias CH SAB de CV, through direct and indirect stakes, was the Company�s majority shareholder.
