NameMedia doesn't buy into the whole idea of "less is more." The company, which bills itself as an online property developer, has a portfolio of more than 3 million domain names (about 30% owned, the rest licensed from third parties). It buys and sells Web site domain names through BuyDomains.com and Afternic.com and develops sites in order to sell advertising space. Names include sales lead generators CellularPlans.com as well as TennisClinics.com, Gardens.com, Photography.com, and other online "communities." Collectively, NameMedia's sites get more than 60 million visitors per month. The company, which was formed in 2005, derives equal revenue from online ads and the sale of domain names.
