The Company sells its products worldwide for uses ranging from commercial and campus installations to customized products for specialty applications and harsh environments, including military applications. Its tight-buffered fiber optic cables are used for high-bandwidth transmission of data, video and audio communications. The enterprise market, into which the Company sells, includes local area network (LAN) and premises markets. Its fiber optic cables can be used in various other short- to moderate-distance applications as well. In November 2009, the Company announced the acquisition of Applied Optical Systems, Inc. In November 2009, the Company announced that SMP Data Communications was merged into the Company.
