Chembio Diagnostics, Inc., along with its subsidiaries, develops, manufactures and markets diagnostic tests that detect infectious diseases. The Company’s main products commercially available are three rapid tests for the detection of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) antibodies in whole blood, serum and plasma samples, two of which were approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during the year ended December 31, 2006. In addition, the Company has a fourth rapid HIV test, developed on its Dual Path Platform (DPP) technology, for the detection of antibodies to HIV in oral fluid samples, as well as whole blood, serum and plasma samples. These products employ single path lateral flow technology, which it has licensed from Inverness Medical Innovations, Inc. (Inverness), which is also its marketing partner for the FDA-approved products in the United States under its Clearview brand.
