Lightwave Logic, Inc., formerly, Third-Order Nanotechnologies, Inc., is a development stage research and development company. The Company has developed and is continuing to develop electro-optic polymers, which has a range of applications in the electro-optic device market. Electro-optic devices convert data from electric signals into optical signals for use in communications systems and in optical interconnects for high-speed data transfer. It engineers its polymers with the intent to have temporal, thermal, chemical and photochemical stability within its molecular architectures. In March 2008, it commenced production of its first prototype photonic chip, which it delivered to its partner, Photon-X, LLC who fabricates a prototype polymer optical modulator and measures its technical properties.
