Description
UPM-Kymmene Corporation is a global paper and forest products company. The Company operates in three business segments, namely Energy and Pulp, Paper, and Engineered materials. The Energy and Pulp segment includes generation of low-emission energy and production of chemical pulp. The Paper segment produces graphic papers in 22 paper mill in Europe, China and the United States. Engineered materials business comprises production of self-adhesive label materials plywood and veneer. Additionally, the Company offers forestry services, sawn timber for building and joinery industries, wood-based products for home interiors and construction, as well as wood plastic composite products. Its activities are centered in the European Union countries and North and South America, and Asia with production facilities in 16 countries. As of December 31, 2011, the Company operated 64 subsidiaries. On August 2012, the Company sold its 50% stake in RETS Timber Oy Ltd, a sawn timber trading company.
