Four hands are better than one? OppenheimerFunds (OFI, whose logo is four interconnected hands) is a mutual fund manager majority-owned by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance, better known as MassMutual. Tracing its roots to a mutual fund business launched in 1960, the firm manages more than 65 funds invested in domestic and international equities, municipal bonds, money markets, and alternative investments, such as commodities, real estate, and hedge funds. The company also offers IRAs, college savings plans, and separate accounts, and manages group plans for small and midsized companies. OFI has nearly $232 billion in assets under management in some 12 million shareholder accounts.
