Pioneer Southwest Energy Partners L.P. (Pioneer Southwest or Partnership), is a limited partnership formed to own and acquire producing oil and gas properties. The Company was formed by Pioneer Natural Resources Company (Pioneer). The Partnership's area of operations consists of onshore Texas and eight counties in the southeast region of New Mexico. Pioneer formed a subsidiary, Pioneer Southwest Energy Partners USA LLC (Pioneer Southwest USA) to hold certain of the Partnership's oil and gas properties located in the Spraberry field in the Permian Basin of West Texas (Spraberry field). The Partnership's only operating segment is oil and gas producing activities. In Addition, all of the Partnership Properties are located in the United States and all of the related oil, natural gas liquid (NGL) and gas revenues are derived from purchasers located in the United States. In August 2009, the Company acquired certain oil and gas properties in the Spraberry field in West Texas.
