PriceSmart, Inc. (PriceSmart) is engaged in international membership shopping warehouse clubs. During the fiscal year ended August 31, 2009 (fiscal 2009), the total number of the Company’s warehouse clubs in operation was 26 operating in 11 countries and one in the United States territory. In addition to the warehouse clubs operated directly by the Company, there is one facility in operation in Saipan, Micronesia licensed to and operated by local business people. The warehouse clubs sell basic consumer goods to individuals and businesses. The Company operates in the United States, Central America and the Caribbean. PriceSmart has two types of members: Business and Diamond (individual). During fiscal 2009, it acquired property and completed the construction of a Costa Rica warehouse club.
