After ages as La Bourse de Paris, the next step for the Paris stock exchange was to become Euronext Paris. The exchange is one of the component parts of Euronext, which is the second-largest exchange in Europe behind the London Stock Exchange. Euronext was created in 2000 after the Paris market joined forces with its counterparts in Brussels and Amsterdam. Later, the Lisbon bourse joined the party, as did the London-based LIFFE derivatives market. Stock traders have kept the Paris bourse busy, under one name or another, since the early part of the 19th century. In 2007 the company became part of NYSE Euronext.
