The financial guaranty business provides insurance and reinsurance of municipal bonds, structured finance transactions and other credit-based risks, and provides credit protection on various asset classes through financial guarantees and credit default swaps (CDS). The financial services business consists of its interests in Sherman Financial Group LLC (Sherman), a consumer asset and servicing firm specializing in credit card and bankruptcy-plan consumer assets.
