In addition to manufacturing rubber and numerous chemicals for the adhesives, agriculture, ceramics, cosmetics, paper, and petroleum industries, R. T. Vanderbilt also mines kaolin clay (used in pigments, paints, and paper) and through subsidiary Dixie Clay Company. The company also acts as a chemical distributor.
