World Vision International sees a world where all children are fed, sheltered, educated, valued, and loved. The Christian relief organization advocates for children and the poor and for the development of families and communities worldwide. Operating in nearly 100 countries from some 40 international offices, the group focuses on education, health care, emergency relief efforts, and economic and agricultural development. Its donors sponsor more than 3 million children. While the organization prohibits proselytizing, 60% of its budget goes to programs that include "domestic ministry." The group receives its contributions mainly from private sources. World Vision was founded in 1950 by the Rev. Bob Pierce.
