Sherman Health Systems is a shepherd of health care in Chicago's northwest suburbs. It operates Sherman Hospital, which has more than 350 beds, as well as a network of primary care clinics, a nursing home (Sherman West Court), and other health care facilities. Specialty services include cardiology, orthopedics, emergency medicine, women's health, and rehabilitation. In addition, the Sherman Hospital provides cancer care in partnership with the University of Chicago. Sherman Health Systems also operates a home health agency. Sherman Hospital was founded in 1888 by the Elgin Woman's Club.
