Advocate Sherman Hospital (formerly Sherman Health Systems) is a shepherd of health care in Chicago's northwest suburbs. In addition to the hospital, which has more than 350 beds, the network includes primary care clinics, a nursing home (Sherman West Court), and other health care facilities. Specialty services include cardiology, orthopedics, emergency medicine, women's health, and rehabilitation. In addition, the Sherman Hospital provides cancer care in partnership with the University of Chicago, and operates a home health agency. The hospital was founded in 1888 by the Elgin Woman's Club and became part of Advocate Health Care's 10-hospital network in 2012 when Advocate purchased Sherman Health Systems.
