Origin Agritech Limited (Origin) is a technology-focused crop seed company serving mainland China. The Company’s activities include the specialization in the research and development, production, and sales and marketing of crop seeds (corn, rice, cotton and canola) throughout the People’s Republic of China. In November 2009, the Company received the Bio-Safety Certificate from the Ministry of Agriculture as a final approval for commercial use of the genetically modified phytase corn. The Company’s focus remains in the production of higher-quality seed products. Origin’s nationwide distribution network covers parts of China and consists of approximately 3,800 first-level distributors and approximately 65,000 second-level distributors and retailers. Its distributors sell products to retailers who in turn sell to farmers, who are end-users of the Company’s products.
