Syngenta AG (Syngenta) is an agri business company engaged in the crop protection and seeds businesses. The crop protection chemicals include herbicides, insecticides and fungicides to control weeds, insects and diseases in crops. The seeds business operates in two commercial sectors: seeds for field crops, including corn, oilseeds, cereals and sugar beet; and vegetable and flower seeds. The Company, through its business development research is applying biotechnology to areas, including biofuels. The Company operates in three business segments: crop protection, seeds and business development. In November 2008, Syngenta completed the acquisition of SPS Argentina SA (SPS). On November 19, 2008, Syngenta completed the acquisition of Goldsmith Seeds, Inc. (Goldsmith). On December 12, 2008, the Company acquired the pot and garden chrysanthemum and aster business of Yoder Brothers Inc. In June 2009, Syngenta acquired Circle One Global, Inc.
