Aircraft engine parts aren't always easy to find, but if you need a part for a Lycoming or Continental engine, Superior Air Parts may be able to help. The company manufactures replacement parts for those engines, including pistons, cylinders, bearings, camshafts, crankcases, crankshafts, and valves. In all, Superior makes more than 2,000 different parts. The company also builds new engines for experimental aircraft. Investment firm Rice Sangalis Toole & Wilson owned Superior Air Parts until 2006 when it was acquired by Thielert, a Germany-based aerospace company. Superior Air Parts was founded in 1967. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from creditors at the end of 2008.
