Labrador Iron Mines Holdings Limited is an iron ore producer, engaged in the mining of iron ore and in the exploration and development of direct shipping iron ore projects (the Schefferville Projects) in the central part of the Labrador Trough region, situated in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and in the Province of Quebec. The Schefferville Projects consist of the James Mine and Silver Yards processing facility (Silver Yards), the Houston property (Houston) and other iron properties in the vicinity of Schefferville. As of March 31, 2012, it held title to 55 Mineral Rights Licenses, representing 659 mineral claims located in western Labrador covering approximately 16,475 hectares. As of March 31, 2012, the Houston property consisted of 13 Mineral Rights Licenses, representing 139 mineral claims located in western Labrador covering approximately 3,474 hectares. The property also includes three additional claims (64 hectares) in the Quebec side.
