Catalyst Paper Corporation is a producer of mechanical printing papers in western North America. The Company also produces northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp. Its business comprises three business segments: specialty printing papers, newsprint and pulp. Specialty printing papers include coated mechanical, uncoated mechanical and directory paper. The Company is the producer of coated mechanical paper and soft-calendared mechanical paper in western North America. The Company operated three paper mills located in British Columbia in Crofton, Port Alberni and Powell River. Total pulp capacity at Crofton is 393,000 tons, of which 350,000 tons are designated as market pulp with the remainder 43,000 tons being consumed internally. In January 2013, it sold its Snowflake assets and shares of Apache Railway.
