Wanna take a hike with the Sierra Club? The growing grassroots organization promotes outdoor activities and environmental activism on both the local and national levels through political lobbies, education, outings, litigation, and publications. The club's more than 2.4 million members are organized into state and regional chapters throughout the US and Canada. Founded in 1892 by naturalist John Muir, Sierra Club publishes books, calendars, SIERRA magazine, and activist newsletter Currents. Some of Sierra Club's current issues include smart energy solutions, clean water, stopping commercial logging in national forests, ending sprawl, and protecting wetlands.
