No news would be bad news for Morris Publishing Group. The newspaper company has a portfolio of about a dozen daily newspapers serving small and midsized markets. Papers include The Augusta Chronicle (Georgia), The Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville), and The Topeka Capital-Journal (Kansas). The company also publishes several non-daily papers, shoppers, and regional interest magazines. Morris Publishing is controlled by the family of chairman William Morris through their Shivers Trading & Operating Company. The Morris family also owns affiliate Morris Communications, which has book publishing, outdoor advertising, and radio broadcasting operations. Morris Publishing emerged from bankruptcy in 2010.
