Description

Drax Group plc is a United Kingdom-based company. The Company has three principal activities: sourcing fuel (including sustainable biomass); electricity production, and electricity sales to the wholesale market and business customers. It operates through two segments: the generation of electricity at Drax Power Station (Generation) and the supply of power to business customers (Retail). The Generation business segment spans all three core activities of the Company in that it incorporates sourcing, generation and supply (through its sales to the wholesale electricity market). The Retail business segment contributes to the supply activities of the Company, through sales direct to the small and medium enterprise and industrial and commercial markets. The company also sells Renewables Obligation Certificates and Levy Exempt Certificates, and offers ancillary services to national grid used for balancing supply and demand or maintaining secure electricity supplies within acceptable limits.
