The government wants to put illegal immigration on ICE. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the largest investigative branch of the Department of Homeland Security, enforces immigration and customs laws and protects the US against terrorist attacks. The agency is primarily responsible for strengthening the nation's border and providing economic, transportation, and infrastructure security. It also investigates human rights violations, human, narcotics, and weapons smuggling, financial crimes, cyber crimes, and export enforcement issues. ICE was created in 2003 as part of a restructuring that combined the law enforcement arms of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the US Customs Service.
