Scientific Instruments segment designs, develops, manufactures, markets, sells and services products used in a range of life science (such as pharmaceutical), environmental, energy, and applied research and other applications. Vacuum Technologies segment designs, develops, manufactures, markets, sells and services a range of products used to create, control, measure and test vacuum environments in life science, environmental, energy, and applied research and other applications. During fiscal year ended October 3, 2008, it acquired Analogix, Inc. and Oxford Diffraction Ltd.
