Van Kampen Trust for Investment Grade New York Municipals (the Trust) is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Trust’s investment objective is to provide a high level of current income exempt from federal, as well as New York State and New York City income taxes, consistent with preservation of capital. The Trust invests substantially all of its assets in New York municipal securities rated investment grade at the time of investment, but may invest up to 20% of its assets in unrated securities that are of comparable quality to those rated investment grade. It may invest a portion of its assets in inverse floating-rate instruments. The Trust invests in various sectors, including public transportation, hospitals and general purpose.
