Description

Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation, doing business as Wabtec Corporation (Wabtec), is a provider of technology-based equipment and services for the global rail industry. The Company primarily serves the worldwide freight and passenger transit rail industries. It provides its products and services through two principal business segments: the Freight Group and the Transit Group. It manufactures, sells and service electronics for railroads in the form of on-board systems and braking for locomotives and freight cars. The Transit Group focuses on new product development and has introduced a number of new products. It owns over 1,500 active patents worldwide and over 600 United States patents. In July 2008, Wabtec completed the acquisition of POLI S.p.A., a European manufacturer of rail braking equipment. In December 2008, it acquired Standard Car Truck. In October 2009, Wabtec Corporation acquired Unifin International from Koch Chemical Technology Group LLC.
