American Tower Corporation is a wireless and broadcast communications infrastructure company with a portfolio of over 23,700 communications sites, including wireless communications towers, broadcast communications towers and distributed antenna system (DAS) networks. The Company is a holding company, and it conducts its operations through its subsidiaries. The Company operates in two segments: rental and management, and network development services. Its primary business is leasing antenna space on multi-tenant communications sites to wireless service providers, and radio and television broadcast companies. Through its network development services segment, the Company offers tower-related services in the United States, including site acquisition, zoning and permitting services and structural analysis services, which directly support its site leasing business, and the addition of new tenants and equipment on its sites. In May 2009, the Company acquired XCEL Telecom Private Ltd.
