Environmental Power Corporation is a developer, owner and operator of renewable energy production facilities. The Company operates through the Microgy’s segment. Microgy, Inc. is a developer of renewable energy facilities for the production and commercial application of methane-rich biogas produced from animal and food industry wastes. The biogas can be sold to end users or used to produce pipeline-grade methane, which Microgy refers to as renewable natural gas (RNG), liquefied natural gas, compressed natural gas, renewable electrical energy or thermal energy, as well as other useful by-products. Microgy’s systems utilize a European biogas production technology. Buzzard Power Corporation (Buzzard) is a subsidiary of the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, EPC Corporation. Buzzard formerly leased a generating facility known as the Scrubgrass plant from Scrubgrass Generating Company, L.P. Buzzard completed the disposition of its leasehold interest in this facility on February 29, 2008.
