Description

The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. (Greenbrier) is engaged in designing, manufacturing and marketing of railroad freight car equipment in North America and Europe and a provider of railcar refurbishment and parts, leasing and other services to the railroad and related transportation industries in North America. The Company operates in three segments: manufacturing, refurbishment and parts, and leasing and services. In April 2008, the Company purchased substantially all of the operating assets of Roller Bearing Industries, Inc. In March 2008, it purchased substantially all of the operating assets of American Allied Railway Equipment Company and its affiliates (AARE). It acquired two wheel facilities in Washington, Illinois and Macon, Georgia, which supply new and reconditioned wheelsets to freight car maintenance locations and to railcar manufacturing facilities.
