Description

Manulife Financial Corporation (MFC) is a life insurance company and the holding company of The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (Manufacturers Life). The Company is a global provider of financial protection and wealth management products and services, including individual life insurance, group life and health insurance, long-term care insurance, pension products, annuities and mutual funds. It also provides investment management services with respect to its general fund assets, segregated fund assets, mutual funds, and to institutional customers. It also offers reinsurance services, specializing in life retrocession and property and casualty reinsurance. It operates in four divisions: U.S. Division, Canadian Division, Asia and Japan Division, and Reinsurance Division. In addition, asset management services are provided by its Investment Division, operating as MFC Global Investment Management. In October 2009, the Company acquired Pottruff & Smith Travel Insurance Brokers Inc.
