Allen Organ's musical instruments may inspire hymns of praise, but the company has faith in technology, too. The company, which introduced the world's first commercially available electronic organ in 1939, makes electronic keyboards, including digital organs and accessories, for use in churches, theaters, and other venues. Subsidiary Allen Integrated Assemblies performs contract manufacturing of electronic assemblies, while Allen Audio makes PA systems for churches or social halls. Allen Organ sold its Eastern Research subsidiary to Sycamore Networks, a provider of optical switching products, in 2006. Allen Organ was founded by the late Jerome Markowitz (father of president Steven) in 1937.
