We’re inviting British nonprofits to apply for a Global Impact Award by April 17. Four charities will each receive £500,000 to make their idea for changing the world a reality. Google's Global Impact Awards support innovators using technology to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.
To help people get emergency information quickly after Superstorm Sandy hit the Caribbean and US East Coast, Google’s Crisis Response team launched a crisis map featuring evacuation routes, shelter locations, storm surges and more. We also gave a $500,000 donation to the American Red Cross to help with relief and recovery efforts.
This year, Googlers from around the world volunteered over 50,000 hours to strengthen the communities in which we live and work. From teaching self-defense classes to coaching veterans on interview skills, to building code that makes math more accessible to blind students, Googlers are putting their skills to good use.
