Search personalization
Sometimes we customize your results based on your past search activity on Google. This customization can use searches you’ve done and results you’ve clicked in the past. The way this is done is different depending on whether you’re signed in to a Google Account or not, so if you want to turn off search history personalization the instructions are a little different in each case.
- Signed in searches:
- To disable history-based search customizations while you’re signed in, you need to remove Web History from your Google Account. You can choose to disable it entirely or to remove individual items. Be aware that removing this service deletes all your old searches from Web History.
- Signed out searches:
- If you aren’t signed in to a Google Account, we customize your search experience based on past search history that’s linked to a cookie on your browser. You can disable this service or if you just want to delete the current cookie storing searches from your browser and start afresh, clear your browser’s cookies.
