What's new with Google Calendar
Just launched!
Wake yourself up with our new Google Wake Up Kit!
Do you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning? We do, too. In fact
this problem became so serious at times that it sometimes resulted in lacklustre
attendance at team meetings. To help solve the problem we've created an
innovative solution called the Google Wake Up Kit.
"I could never wake up on time to get to our team meetings. But thanks to
the new Google Wake Up Kit, I'm always on time now!"
Pedro C.
In combination with the kit, you can receive a new type of notification from
Google Calendar, called the "wake up" notification. This notification is
relentless in ensuring your timely awakening from restful slumber.
The "wake up" notification uses several progressively more annoying alerts
to wake you up. First it will send an SMS message to your phone. If that fails,
more coercive means will be used. The kit includes an industrial-sized bucket
and is designed to be connected to your water main for automatic filling. In
addition, a bed-flipping device is included for forceful removal from your
sleeping quarters. Learn more

And much more...
Ever since we launched Google Calendar, we've been listening to our users and working hard to make Google Calendar even better. Here are a few of the features we've added:
- Stay on task with Google Calendar on your iPhone
With an easy-to-read interface, Google Calendar now works (and looks) better
on your iPhone. Enhanced 'touch-screen' buttons and color-coded events make
keeping track of your schedule - and viewing others' calendars - even easier
while you're on the go. Learn More

- Google Calendar gallery
Many different organizations and individuals share their calendars publicly
through Google Calendar. Now users can access any of these calendars through a
easy-to-browse gallery. You can find all sorts of interesting calendars that
let you keep track of your favorite basketball team's schedule, know when your
favorite TV show is a repeat, or follow your favorite band's concert tour.
Visit the Google Calendar gallery to
see more.
- Calendar on your Phone
You can now access your Google Calendar account from your mobile phone! Just
visit mobile.google.com/calendar/
with your phone's web browser and once you're logged in, you'll see your list
of upcoming events with date and time information in an easy-to-browse
format.
- Reminders from all your calendars
You can now receive email or mobile text-message reminders for all your personal
calendars. You can also set different types of reminders for each of your
events. Google Calendar can notify you of upcoming events, new, changed and
cancelled invitations, invitation replies or it can send you a daily agenda
every morning. You do not have to worry about missing a thing.
- Share calendars with friends
Found a public calendar of events that you would like to send to a group of
friends? No problem. Simply click on the arrow next to the calendar, select
"Send to a friend" and type in the email addresses of people with whom you
would like to share it. Now, you can keep anyone up to date on upcoming events
that you find on Google Calendar.
- Your not-so-digital calendar
We understand that not everyone has a PDA or wifi connection all the time.
Some people like having a printed agenda. So, we have added some features to
make it easier for you to have a physical copy of your calendar. You can change
font size, orientation and choose color or black and white mode.
- Search and Add Events from the Web
Now you can search the web for events and add them directly to your Google
Calendar. Within Google Calendar, type an event search into the search box like
"Symphony in San Francisco" and click "Search Public Events". You'll see a list
of events that you can easily add to your Google Calendar.
Simply click on an event listing and you'll be able to see a map of where the
venue is located and the corresponding times at which the event occurs. To add
to your calendar, click on the time of the event and select "copy to my
calendar".
- Calendars with web content events and special icons
We've added a new calendar format with a little extra eye candy. These
calendars have small icons at the top of the day when there's new
information.
Using these calendars, you can now get some extra information directly in your
calendar view — like the upcoming weather, the phases of the moon, and
even a heads up when a new Google Doodle appears on Google.com.
To get the weather forecast calendar for cities in the U.S., sign in to Google
Calendar and click Settings to update your weather preferences.
To add the Google doodles calendar or the moon phases calendar, click the plus
symbol (+) next to "Other Calendars" on the left side of your screen. Select
the "Browse Calendars" tab and then look in the "Fun Calendars" area. When you
find the calendar you want, just click the "Add Calendar" button.
If you're interested (and technically inclined) you can publish a calendar in
the iCal format that takes advantage of this new format, or use the updated
Google Calendar Data API to make calendars like this of your own. Learn more
- Google Calendar in 17 new languages
We've heard from Google users all over the world who wanted Google Calendar in their own languages, so we've been working hard to make this happen. If one of these is your preferred language of choice, give the new interface a try: French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Polish, and English (UK).
- Interested in using Google Calendar at work or school?
Now you can sign up for Google Apps Team Edition and use Google
Calendar to create events and coordinate schedules with your colleagues and
co-workers. By signing up, you can also use Google Docs and Google Talk within
your school, business or organization.
