my VERY humble apologies - since my question will sound VERY stupid;
after opening , the Terminal window asks for "root@IPaddress's
PASSWORD"...and I don't know what this is, since I don't remember
entering a password in my iTouch;
material is: iMac G4 OSX 10.5 and iTouch V1 jailbroken and pawned to

Hello,
unfortunately iBaRes 2.3.1 freezes on my Mac 10.4.11, with iItunes
8.0.1 and an original iPhone with 2.2, jailbroken, unlocked &
activated with QuickPwn, Cydia & open SSH installed. I established a
wireless network, entered the iPhone's IP, choose individual Backup
selected the path for the archive and let iBaRes loose, then two

the issue with the not restores apt database is surely on top of my
list. Unfortunately I still couldn't find WHERE it is stored, so I
don't know how/what to backup/restore....

I had problems as well, initially.
Ok, step by step as it worked for me. No guarantees for anyone else though.
1) Do a backup (sync) in Itunes
2) Do a full backup in iBares (individual tab, everything checked except

Ok, As Kerry mentioned, do two restores. It wasn't perfect, but close! I
did get back all my Cydia apps and everythign was arranged on the various
springboard pages teh way I had it. The winterboard scheme didn't come back
and, of course, there are no package listings in Cydia for the 3rd party

I am sad to report that my experience with iBaReS in upgrading to FW
2.1 was a total disaster. I appreciate the work that has gone into
it, don't get me wrong.

However, in following Kerry's instructions above, what I got was a
nicely restored iPhone that was no longer recognized in iTunes 8.

I'm in the process of an iBares restore and I'll let you know how it goes.
Unfortunately, I didn't read all the info here ahead of time and neglected
the "update" restore step. However, that should work out, should it not?
I'll just restore any 2.1 apps via Itunes. I am hoping all my Cydia apps do
come back because AptBackup did not work at all.

2.1 is out and I thought I'd use iBares to do a complete backup. I
used it once before but haven't since then. I had iBares on my
Macbook. I have a new iMac now and am running iBares from there.

I have iPhone connected, run iBares, it tries to establish rsa
communications, after a long time it eventually opens a bash terminal

Hi,

please have a look into the usecases within the documentation here.

Basically it's the following:
- Do an individual backup with all options checked
- Do the upgrade to 2.1 (you should have cydia and ssh (and maybe
winterboard) already in the image)
- Then do TWO restore rounds from your individual backup archive:

What is the exact method to use. I have IBaRes, itunes 7.7, 2.02
jailbroken phone and all kinds of apps, plus a tricked out ipsw that
has everything on it thanks to Davidk. What can I do to easily go to
2.1 from 2.02 and keep everything.
