Breckenridge Closer To Getting A Mountain Coaster[Image]
Reporting

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) ―
They've got one in Glenwood Springs and now Breckenridge wants its own mountain roller coaster.
The resort presented an application to the Breckenridge Planning Commission Tuesday night to build a 2,500 foot long coaster and it was approved.
"It's like the alpine slide but it's raised and it's on a metal track," an official at Breckenridge said.
The ski area hopes to build the coaster this summer on Peak 8. The coaster would be almost completely hidden in a row of trees
Once built it would operate during the summer season and even in the winter.
"The alpine roller coaster does have the ability to run year-round because it sits three meters off the ground, it will allow for a snowpack," the official said.
The resort hopes the new coaster will make the summer experience, that already includes an alpine slide, rock climbing, mini golf and bungee lines, much better.
"I think everybody from eight to 80 is going to be able to enjoy this."
The next step is approval from the town council which could happen next week.
