Google About Google

Google has a long tradition of celebrating holidays with special graphics on our web site. We are very pleased to have our first animated graphic for Valentine's Day, a holiday commemorating love and the search for true happiness. The java applet was developed specially for us by Ken Perlin of New York University. If you haven't played with our heart, you might try clicking on it, or letting it rest by dragging your mouse downward and leaving it still for a few seconds.

We hope you enjoy our bouncing heart and encourage you to share it with your friends by telling them about Google today. Not only will you be showing your affection for them by providing some animated entertainment, you'll be helping them find whatever their hearts desire. And what could be more fitting for Valentine's Day?

Bouncing Heart Applet
Ken Perlin, the author of this applet, is an Academy Award-winning computer graphics expert in the New York University Department of Computer Science, where he directs the Media Research Laboratory and Center for Advanced Technology. This heart is a simple example of Improvisational Animation, which lets animated characters come to life and respond to you. Find out more about this at Improv Technologies. There are also lots of other cool applets on Ken's web pages.
