WASHINGTON — Spain's Crown Prince Felipe de Borbon and his wife will visit the United States next week for a bilateral forum and meetings with business and scientific leaders, officials said Thursday.
Prince Felipe will speak on June 22 at the dinner of the US-Spain Council Forum, which runs through June 24 and will also be attended by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo.
The prince is expected to address "fiscal and economic developments in the eurozone," according to an official schedule of his visit released by the Spanish embassy in Washington.
The Spanish government won a weekend deal with its eurozone partners for a rescue loan of up 100 billion euros to salvage its stricken banks, but the markets responded coolly and ratings agency Moody's slashed Spain's credit rating by three notches on Wednesday.
Prince Felipe and his wife Letizia, Princess of Asturias, will co-chair a business forum in New York on the first day of their US visit, June 20, before attending a convention on bio-technology in Boston the following day.
