THE HAGUE (AFP) — Kazakh cyclist Alexandre Vinokourov, who was kicked off the 2007 Tour de France for doping, was dropped from a Dutch mountain-bike event on Friday in what would have been his comeback race.
The 35-year-old was to take part in the Beach Challenge in the Dutch town of Scheveningen, but he was withdrawn from the list of entrants, the ANP news agency reported.
The organisers, who had originally accepted the Kazakh rider into the race, did not give a reason for their change of mind.
Vinokourov was suspended for a year until July this year after his Tour de France expulsion which also saw his Astana team kicked out.
He had originally retired from cycling after his suspension was announced but then decided to mount a comeback in 2009.
