Chevron declares force majeure on Nigeria's Escravos exports

LAGOS (AFP) — US oil group Chevron has declared force majeure, or the inability to meet delivery obligations, on exports from its Escravos oil terminal in Nigeria until the end of the year after a militant attack, a spokesman said Thursday.

"This is due to breach on the main onshore pipeline carrying about 90,000 bpd to Escravos, Delta state. Repair plans are being prepared and it would be premature to estimate completion time," the spokesman said.

He said the pipeline that feeds into the Escravos export terminal was attacked last Friday, but no group has claimed responsibility, adding that around 90,000 barrels of oil production per day were affected.
