Scotland mulls joint bid for Euro 2016
GLASGOW (AFP) — Scottish football chiefs have begun exploratory talks with their counterparts in Wales and Northern Ireland about a possible bid to host Euro 2016, the first 24-team European Championship.
Scotland does not have enough stadiums to host a tournament of that size on its own but a link-up with Wales and Northern Ireland would make it feasible.
The talks with the Welsh and Northern Irish were confirmed Wednesday by the Scottish Football Association but described as "tentative".
Euro 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine will be a 16-team tournament.
