BEIRUT — An attack by Syrian rebels in the northwestern province of Idlib killed at least 15 troops on Wednesday, a human rights group said, adding that fierce clashes broke out after the assault.
"Several rebel groups attacked three army posts in the village of Bdama, in the area of Jisr al-Shughur, and destroyed them," Syrian Observatory for Human Rights director Rami Abdel Rahman said. "Intense clashes broke out afterwards."
Fighting broke out elsewhere in Idlib on Wednesday. Idlib is one of the rebel Free Syrian Army's main bastions, and it neighbours both Turkey and the province of Aleppo, scene of some of the fiercest violence in Syria's conflict.
