GAZA CITY (AFP) — Israeli strikes on Gaza killed another 14 Palestinians, including five children, on Monday, the tenth day of Israel's massive offensive on the Hamas-run enclave, medics said.
Three children were killed by a tank shell in Zeitun and two were killed in Shati by a naval strike, according to the head of Gaza medical emergency services Moawiya Hassanein.
Nine other people, the identities of whom were not immediately available, were killed near Beit Hanun and Beit Lahiya in the north, he said.
At least 517 Palestinians, including 87 children, have been killed and more than 2,500 wounded since Israel unleashed its "Operation Cast Lead" on December 27.
Three civilians and one soldier have been killed by rockets fired from Gaza during the same time.
One soldier has been killed and another 55 wounded in clashes with Hamas fighters after Israel poured in ground troops on January 3 to back up air and naval bombardments.
