Gebrselassie having second thoughts about retiring

PARIS — Ethiopian legend Haile Gebrselassie indicated on Wednesday that he would think over his decision to retire from athletics which he had taken in the light of retiring from Sunday's New York Marathon.

The 37-year-old - a two-time Olympic champion at 10,000 metres - said that he would devote himself to other matters when he pulled out midway through the race with a knee injury.

However, Gebrselassie - who has several business interests in Ethiopia - said on his Twitter on Wednesday that there was a chance he would do an about turn.

"I love running and I will always run. I am going to think about it," he said.

Gebrselassie - a quadruple world 10,000m champion - is the world marathon record holder and had said he wanted to carry on till the London Olympics in 2012.
