I love this gadget but now it appears too wide to fit into a standard iGoogle column with no way to adjust it, leaving the right edge invisible. I can't access the icon to hear the sentence pronunciation. Other than that, I agree with previous comments . . the pronunciation is the São Paulo regional dialect but nevertheless understood by all Brazilians.

Instead of portuguese, it's coming up in arabic?? What happened. From speaking with other brazilians who are mostly from Minas Gerais, and Goias, it sounds just like them. Basically "mid-western" Brazil like the others said.

The Sao Paulo accent is the 'mid-western' accent for Brazil.

I started using this gadget because my caregiver is from São Paulo Brazil. I mention very bad the pronunciations seem to be "off" from the way I would pronounce it. If I was using my knowledge of Spanish pronunciation. After I played some of the pronunciations for her, she told me that the pronunciations were using a São Paulo accent and then using the "Spanish" pronunciation would be more accurate for four Brazilian Portuguese. If I'm going to learn the language, I'd prefer to do it without a regional accent.

The Portuguese Word of the Day loaded up on my computer for about 3 weeks and stopped. It hasn't shown up for the past 3 weeks. It works on my laptop at home, but not on my desktop. Any ideas?

I really love this gadget since I am learning Portuguese, but the words are all level 1. My only wish would be to be able to practice with some higher level words.
